Collette Zimmer Dressage School

Creating great “horse people”, not just “riders” though a combination of curriculum-based mounted and unmounted lessons.  For riders of all ages and levels. Open year round.

I have asked my students to describe what makes my riding program different, and the answer is that it is HORSE FIRST! The horses are well taken care of, and I always take into account the type of work and rider each horse needs. Each riding session is also treated as a training session. I put students on the lunge line until they learn to have an independent seat, which is the only way to having independent hands, which keeps my horses happy and are therefore not the stiff, resistant horses you envision when you picture a string of lesson horses. In fact, I often ride and enjoy the horses myself and keep them tuned up and even progressing in their training. Having well-schooled and safe horses is what allows my students to improve their riding quickly.
